Today we celebrated the New Year in a traditional Japanese way, with Kagami Biraki (Mirror Opening)! In Japan, every 2nd Saturday of the New Year we eat Kagami Mochi delicious decorated candy that resembles one of the Japanese Emperor’s regalia (a mirror!). The tradition is estimated to have started back in 1400 A.D. but persists to this day! Our young explorers had lots of fun and got to enjoy a tasty treat, we can only consider it another successful adventure!
