A Warm Welcome from the Founder of SkyCrest International School
It is my great privilege to welcome you to SkyCrest International School.
Ours is a nurturing and dynamic learning community where children’s curiosity knows no bounds, and their joy is contagious.
As educators, our dedicated staff not only provides high-quality education but also ensures that every day is filled with the excitement and fun that childhood should be about.
At SkyCrest, we aim to create an environment where every child feels valued, appreciated, and encouraged to thrive. Our goal is to build a school community that not only understands and challenges each child but also embraces them for who they truly are. Our team is made up of exceptional individuals, all committed to working together for the well-being and success of your child and your family.
A Stimulating, Safe, and Respectful Environment
First and foremost, we are committed to providing a stimulating, safe, and respectful environment where children feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow. We embrace the “whole child” philosophy, recognizing and nurturing their unique differences and learning styles. Our approach encourages children to develop meaningful relationships with their peers and engage in collaborative learning experiences. Whether they are engaging in abstract thinking, creative problem-solving, or logical analysis, we support each child in becoming a well-rounded, confident thinker.
Inquiry-Based Learning: An Engaging Curriculum
Our curriculum is built on an inquiry-based learning model, with each month dedicated to exploring a different theme in-depth. This thematic approach allows us to focus on a specific topic over an extended period of time, fostering deep exploration through projects, reading, and hands-on activities. The slower, more intentional pacing of our curriculum gives children the space and time to absorb and reflect on what they’re learning, creating lasting, meaningful educational experiences.
Emphasizing Play-Based Learning
We also place great emphasis on the value of play as an essential component of a child’s growth and development. We incorporate Maddy play, a unique approach that fosters creative expression, critical thinking, and emotional resilience through imaginative and free play. In addition to Maddy play, we embrace nature play—a practice deeply rooted in Japanese culture—that encourages children to learn and explore through direct interaction with the natural world. Whether it's playing outdoors, exploring forests, or engaging in natural materials, we believe that nature-based learning fosters curiosity, creativity, and environmental stewardship.
An International, Culturally Rich Education
At SkyCrest, our students not only develop academic skills, but also learn the values of respect, discipline, and gratitude through the cultural richness of Japan.
Through exposure to Japanese traditions, language, and customs, as well as a truly international environment, we aim to cultivate global-minded individuals who will thrive in a connected world.

Our Philosophy
【Goals】
Our curriculum identifies goals in the following areas of development:
Social/Emotional: To help children develop independence, self-confidence and self control, follow rules and routines, make friends and learn what it means to be a part of a group.
Physical: to increase children’s large muscle skills – balancing, running, jumping, throwing and catching and use the small muscles in their hands to do tasks such as buttoning, stringing beads, cutting, drawing and writing.
Cognitive: To acquire thinking skills such as the ability to solve problems, to ask questions, and to think logically – sorting, classifying, comparing, counting, and making patterns – and to use materials and their imagination to show what they have learned.
Language: To use words to communicate with others, listen to and participate in conversations with others, understand the purpose of print, recognize letters and word and begin writing.
【Central Pillars of SkyCrest】
—Confidence—
Our kids will be faced with many situations in their lives where they may not know what to do, or may make many mistakes, before arriving at their goal. And during these times, he or she should experience a sense of boldness and courage to carry themselves through to success, with no fear.
—Think Big—
When kids think with unnecessary limitations and borders, they will think small. Let`s inspire our kids to create and communicate with a bold direction in their minds.
—Passion—
A strong focus must be in the hearts of young men and women, so that they may drive toward their goal with enthusiasm and joy. Courage and confidence are the cars they drive, while Passion is the destination.
—Learn and Be Curious—
Learning is lifelong. It does not end when we leave the schoolhouse grounds, and we believe it is important for our kids to always seek new ways to improve themselves, to be curious, and to explore the answers.
—Global Leaders—
As the world grows and becomes brighter, it is essential that children feel an appreciation for peoples of different backgrounds and heritages, all over the world. Having experience with different people in the world will give them the confidence to work well, in a collage of environments.
